Targeted Lung Health Check Service
The SWAG Alliance Targeted Lung Health Check is an important initiative aimed at detecting lung cancer in its early stages, particularly for those at higher risk. The program is designed to identify individuals who may benefit from screening based on factors such as smoking history or age. Those eligible are invited for a check-up that typically includes a low-dose CT scan, which can detect lung abnormalities or early signs of lung cancer, even before symptoms appear. Early detection through the SWAG Alliance Targeted Lung Health Check improves the chances of successful treatment and can save lives. If you meet the criteria, it’s important to take part in this screening to help catch lung cancer at its most treatable stage.
The lung health checks are being offered in specific areas across Somerset, Wiltshire, Avon, & Gloucestershire to people between the ages of 55-74 who are current or former smokers. Eligible individuals will be sent a letter inviting them to a telephone lung health check. This may lead to a face-to-face appointment and low-dose CT scan for some individuals.
Contact your healthcare provider for more information on the program and its availability in your area.
